Meet Our Orthodontic Residents At UNLV

The UNLV School of Dental Medicine is home to some of the most exceptional students, and under the guidance of our expert faculty, these residents provide top notch orthodontic care to the Las Vegas community. They work alongside the faculty, and each case is reviewed by a panel of board certified orthodontists, so the best possible treatment is decided for every smile.

Dr. Kelvin Chen

Dr. Kelvin Chen was born and raised in Toronto,web - Dr. Kelvin Chen.jpg Canada. After completing his Honors Bachelor of Science degree (H.B.Sc.) at the University of Toronto, he traveled to Detroit, Michigan to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at the University of
Detroit Mercy. Following graduation, he decided to continue his training at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in pursuit of advanced training in orthodontics. When Dr. Chen is not busy bringing out his patients' best smile in the clinic, he enjoys mountain biking, reading and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Minhquan Dao

Dr. Quan Dao grew up in a small town in Northfield,web - Dr. Minhquan Dao.jpg New Jersey. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in biology. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Temple University. After working as a general dentist in Houston for one year, he decided to pursue a specialty in orthodontics. In his spare time he enjoys staying active, trying new foods and restaurants, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Mallary Forrest

Dr. Mallary C. Forrest was born and raised in Northweb - Dr. Mallary Forrest.jpg Georgia.  She graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. In 2011 she earned her dental degree from the University of Maryland where she graduated in the top of her class. While in dental school, Dr. Forrest received several awards and grants for her dedication to dentistry. She was invited into the Gorgas honor society, Omicron Kappa Epsilon honor society, and completed a year-long clerkship in implant prosthodontics. Prior to pursuing an orthodontic career, Dr. Forrest worked as a general dentist in the Charlotte, NC area for 7 years. Dr. Forrest has been married to her husband, a physical education teacher, since 2010 and they have a 4-year old daughter. Dr. Forrest enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going for walks with their German Shepherd and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Namgu Kim

Dr. Namgu Kim was born in Seoul, Korea andweb - Dr. Namgu Kim.jpg raised in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. After graduating from high school, he moved to Washington D.C. and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University. Dr. Kim went back to Portland, Oregon and received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from Oregon Health & Science University before joining Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at UNLV. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, going to concerts and trying out new restaurants. Dr. Kim is always open for recommendations for restaurants and your favorite places in Las Vegas.

Dr. Melissa Trumbo

Dr. Melissa Trumbo was born at the United Statesweb - Dr. Melissa Trumbo.jpg Naval Hospital located in Yokosuka, Japan and raised, since the age of two, in Zalma, Missouri. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from College of the Ozarks located near Branson, Missouri. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. During graduation, Dr. Trumbo was sworn in as a United States Navy Lieutenant to provide general dentistry services to active duty military members and their families. She moved to Norfolk, Virginia and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Naval Base Norfolk. After the one-year residency, Dr. Trumbo moved to Okinawa, Japan where she worked as a general dentist and traveled to several countries in Asia during her four-year tour. Then she embarked on the arduous transition from Okinawa, Japan to Las Vegas, Nevada to begin her residency at UNLV in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in June 2018. Dr. Trumbo enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, cooking, playing volleyball, exercising, and attending concerts.

Dr. Kyle Tuttle

Dr. Kyle Tuttle grew up in Fillmore, Utah and isweb - Dr. Kyle Tuttle.jpg the second youngest in a family of five. He attended Utah State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition Science. He received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health graduating in May 2018.  Dr. Tuttle is married to his beautiful wife Cherish and has two children, Kent (age 3) and Maye (age 1). Dr. Tuttle is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. Prior to attending Utah State University, Dr. Tuttle served a two-year church mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He enjoys spending time with his family and working on his family’s farm in Southern Utah. He also loves sports and is a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Dr. Najem Anbari

Dr. Najem Anbari was born and raised in Baghdad-Iraq,web - Dr. Najem Anbari.jpg where he received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree.  He then moved to Philadelphia and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania - School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Anbari graduated with honors in community health service and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society in May of 2018. After practicing dentistry in Boston, he moved to Las Vegas to pursue his post-doctoral specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.  Dr. Anbari has been married to his wife, a general dentist since 2013 and they have a 10-month old son.  He enjoys hiking and road trips with his family and friends, reading and exploring new places.

Dr. Kimberly Doucette

Dr. Kimberly Doucette was born and raised in the small town of Heber, Arizona.  She grew up playing sports and spending time with her big family.  After high school she played volleyball and went to school at Chandler Gilbert Community College.  She then attended Arizona State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  She continued on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.  She is excited to continue her education journey and join the specialty program for orthodontics at UNLV.  Dr. Doucette is married to her high school sweetheart Rory and they have two children, a daughter Tayte (age 4) and son RJ (age 1).  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and baking.

Dr. Matthew Hunsaker 

Dr. Matthew Hunsaker grew upweb - Dr. Matthew Hunsaker.jpg in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada and is the youngest in  a family of 10.  He attended Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biological Sciences.  He received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine in May 2019.  Dr. Hunsaker is married to his sweetheart Madeline and has a daughter, Scarlett (age 2) and expecting a baby boy November 2019.  Dr. Hunsaker is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.  Prior to attending Arizona State University, Dr. Hunsaker served a two-year church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Northeastern Argentina where he learned to speak Spanish fluently. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.  He also loves music, sports and is an avid fan of the Vegas Golden Knights.


Dr. Brady Petersen

Dr. Brady Petersen was born and raised right here in Las Vegas, NV.  Both of his parents were even born and raised in Las Vegas and much of the family has continued to make this great city their home.  Dr. Petersen is the oldest in a family of five children, and he grew up playing all different kinds of sports and activities.  He attended the University of Utah where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology.  He then received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from UNLV School of Dental Medicine in May 2017 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. After working as a general dentist for two years in the Las Vegas community, he decided to continue his education through an advanced post-doctoral specialty in orthodontics at UNLV.  Dr. Petersen is married to his beautiful wife, Nicole, and together they have four children, Briggs (age 9), Grant (age 7), Teagan (age 4) and Olivia (age 1)During his free time, Dr. Petersen enjoys spending time with friends and family, golf, basketball, and has recently become a huge fan of the Vegas Golden Knights!

Dr. Melissa Kornhaber

Dr. Melissa Kornhaber was born and raised in the small town of Goshen, New York. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Screen Arts and Cultures from the University of Michigan.  She then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.  She graduated with the highest honors and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society.  Upon graduating, she joined the residency program here at UNLV to pursue advanced education in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.  Dr. Kornhaber is looking forward to the amazing cuisine and live music Las Vegas has to offer.  Moreover, she loves to travel, hike and ski and is excited to move out west and explore the many national parks and ski resorts in Las Vegas’s backyard with her friends and family.

Dr. Mark Wittchow

Dr. Mark Wittchow was born in Iowa City, Iowa and moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin at the age of two.  In grade school, he developed a passion for golf and hockey.  He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where he played collegiate golf his freshman year and earned his Bachelor of Science with a major in human biology and minor in chemistry.  He went on to earn his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.  Dr. Wittchow was married this past May to his beautiful wife Gia.  They have one dog, named Palmer.  In his spare time, he likes to try new golf courses, play hockey, watch sports and spend time with friends and family.  Although Dr. Wittchow has not lived in Wisconsin since graduating from high school, he remains an avid Packer fan.


Dr. Kieran Caberto

Dr. Kieran Caberto was born in the small town of Lihue, Kieran Caberto, DDSon the island of Kauai, Hawaii. She graduated from Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  She then decided to stay in Nebraska to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry.  As a first-generation college student, Dr. Caberto graduated Dental School with honors, and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Nu and Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Society.  She is the oldest of three siblings and is currently engaged with a wedding date set in October 2020 (pandemic pending).  She considers herself a foodie and enjoys trying new restaurants.  In her spare time, she also loves working out, traveling, and spending time with family.

 

Dr. Daniel Hou

Dr. Daniel Hou was born in Los Angeles and raised in Daniel Hou, DDSAsia.  After completing his Biology degree at the University of California, Berkeley, he attended the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco, California to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree.  After graduation, he worked at Alameda Highland Hospital in Oakland, California through an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program.  Following that, he decided to pursue his orthodontic residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  While not busy in the clinic reconstructing smiles, Dr. Hou enjoys surfing, cooking, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.  He also recently picked up golfing and is open to any recommendations on how to improve his swing!

 

Dr. Daniel Hyungbin Lee

Dr. Daniel Hyungbin Lee was born and raised in South Daniel Hyungbin Lee, DMDKorea and immigrated to Irvine, California when he was 16.  After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Economics and Policy, he worked in the investment banking industry for a year.  To pursue his true passion, he decided to continue on his academic career and received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the UNLV School of Dental Medicine.  During his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys playing golf, tennis, PC games, trading stocks, and spending time with friends.

 

Dr. David Li

Dr. David Li is a California native, growing up in SanDavid Li, DDS Jose, California.  He graduated from UCLA, with a degree in Neuroscience, and a minor in Biomedical Research.  He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan.  Afterwards, he received additional training in dentistry as part of a General Practice Residency at Jacobi Medical Center in New York City.  After working as a general dentist for two years, he decided to pursue a specialty in orthodontics.  In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, cheering on his favorite sports teams (Warriors and A’s), and spending time with friends and family.

 

Dr. Hahnnah Park

Dr. Hahnnah Park was born and raised in aHahnnah Park, DDS small town in Central New Jersey.  She went on to study Physiological Science at UCLA and received her Bachelors of Science degree (BS) in 2012.  She soon transplanted to the West Coast and began studying at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco, California in 2017.  In 2020, she graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) with the highest honors.  Dr. Park is excited to join the Las Vegas community and enjoy the various forms of entertainment and dining that this city has to offer.  Dr. Park likes to spend her spare time spending time with friends and family and is looking forward to hosting them in order to enjoy the Las Vegas scene together.

Dr. Jean C. Shen

Dr. Jean C. Shen grew up in Taiwan and moved toJean C. Shen, DMD Arcadia, California at the age of 11. She developed an interest in orthodontics ever since getting her braces during high school.  She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics and a minor in Asian Languages with a concentration in Korean.  She then went on to receive her Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) from UNLV School of Dental Medicine.  She enjoys trying new restaurants, reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
